Stirk Medical Group:Billing

Billing Information

Accounts are given to patients at the end of the consultation and it is usual for these to be paid before leaving the surgery. There is a discount on the advertised fee for in-hours consultations in the surgery, if the account is settled on the day of the consultation.

Since the 1st September 1999 there has been a "gap" fee for patients who are on a pension or are current Health Care Card holders. This has become necessary over the past few years, due to the rising costs of supplying quality health care to the community and our patients. The practice will endeavour to keep this "Gap" fee as small as possible.

EFTPOS This service is available for your conveniance. Remembering consultations are cheaper paid on the day.

A Schedule guide for your Doctor's current fees is available at both surgeries and is also detailed below. (Please ensure that the Schedule below is current as it is subject to change.) Please discuss with your doctor the cost of more complex treatments, the costs of investigation and anticipated costs of specialist treatment if this is a matter of concern for you.

If you have a question about your account, please phone the surgery between 9am and 5pm each weekday, or email us if you prefer. We direct bill, to Medicare, childhood immunisations and for people in financial difficulty. Please bring your Medical and Social Security cards with you.

If you have a Veterans' Affairs entitlement, please let the receptionist know and bring your card with you.

If your visit concerns a Worker's Compensation or Motor Vehicle Accident claim, please let the receptionist know each time you come.

You can claim the Medicare rebate on your account. Claim forms are available at the accounts desk.

Medicare does not allow some items to be claimed from them. These include pre-employment (unless already unemployed), school and superannuation medicals and any consultation concerning a matter for which you intend to claim damages.

A charge may be made for appointments which are not kept.

If you are having problems with your account, please let your doctor know.
